The Nick developed the Youth Assistance Scholarship Program (YAP) to ensure that every child who desires to play a team sport at The Nick has the opportunity to do so, regardless of financial abilities.
Approximately 30-50 full and partial scholarships will be awarded annually to children whose families qualify for financial assistance. These will be distributed on a first-come-first-served basis. If you are interested in applying for scholarships, please review our Qualification Guidelines below to determine if your family is eligible, and mail your completed application to: The Nick PO Box 838 Wolfeboro, NH 03894. Please contact admin@thenick.org for the application.
Eligibility is determined based on family income. If your family currently participates in the SNAP, TANF, WIC or Free/Reduced Lunch programs, you automatically qualify for assistance, but a completed application must still be submitted.
Automatic qualification does not guarantee assistance—scholarships are distributed on a first-come-first-served basis.
If your family does not already participate in one of the programs listed above, use the Federal Eligibility Income Chart here to determine if you qualify. Your household income should fall at or around the amount listed according to your family size. If your total income is higher than the maximum amount, but there are circumstances which would prevent you from enrolling your child in sports at The Nick, please provide a brief summary in the space given in Section 2 of the application, as you may still be considered for a scholarship depending on availability.
Applications must be received by the deadline date listed for each sport. If your child is awarded a scholarship, you will receive notification via email within 10 days.
Please be sure to include a valid email address on your application — If you do not have access to email please make a note of this on your application, and we can send notification via mail. This notification (whether by email or mail) will serve as your proof of receipt and should be submitted to the sports league administrator or coach as full or partial payment when registering your child to play.

If you normally get overtime, include it, but do not include it if you only work overtime sometimes. If you have lost a job or had your hours or wages reduced, use your current income.
Household members may not receive some types of income we ask you to report on the application. Whenever this happens, please write a 0 in the field. However, if any income fields are left empty or blank, those will also be counted as zeroes. Please be careful when leaving income fields blank, as we will assume you meant to do so.
Your basic pay and cash bonuses must be reported as income. If you get any cash value allowances for off-base housing, food, or clothing, it must also be included as income.
